Event Details

The Event:

ArtRising goes against the grain and challenges the traditional “fundraiser” model.  Think “avant-garde”; think “underground party”; think "I need to be there".

Lead by The Circle, this event aims to stimulate and engage attendees while raising funds for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.

The Art:

Highly-anticipated, always unexpected, and definitely memorable, ArtRising’s artists work within unconventional spaces to create memorable art experiences that are unique to this event.

This year’s affair will feature art by regional contemporary artist Noah Logan as he transform a blank Art Gallery of Nova Scotia space into a vibrant, stimulating, hotbed of creativity.

The Scene:

Step Underground and expose yourself to something you've never experienced before in Halifax.  This one-of-a-kind event will cultivate your curiosity in art and solidify your spot in party history.

The Music:

CousinsCousins are a bare-bones garage-rock power group, hailing from Halifax. Comprised of guitarist/singer Aaron Mangle and drummer Leigh Dotey, together they manifest Mangle’s quirky vision of sweet n’ heavy raucous pop music in a live show that is both poetic and violent.  Listen here.

Cold WarpsBrilliant AM radio power-pop poured through fuzz and played faster and louder. Simple songs, lo-fi production, sparse solos and raw-sugar harmonies. Cold Warps are garage/power-pop at it's whatever-est.  Listen here.

DJ T-Woo - Woo is interested in making you shake your rump plain and simple.  Listen here.

Interesting art + great music + unexpected encounters + YOU = one unforgettable night.

AGNS Young Patrons' Circle

The Young Patrons’ Circle of the AGNS, a dynamic new membership program for young people who want to immerse themselves in the rich cultural life of Nova Scotia. The Circle is a member-based organization dedicated to creating intimate encounters with the visual arts and artists working in Atlantic Canada.

Harking back to the innovative tradition of Halifax being a leader in Canadian creativity, the Circle honours the commitment to bringing the best in contemporary art to Canada in the same way that Nova Scotian predecessors brought the first public exhibition of fine art in the country in Halifax in the mid nineteenth century.

The Circle supports the AGNS in its desire to engage young people in all facets of arts and culture, particularly Canadian and Atlantic Canadian contemporary art. Funds raised through memberships will endow an annual purchase fund for contemporary Canadian works for the permanent collection, creating an enduring legacy for members of the Young Patrons’ Circle at the Gallery.

We welcome all young art enthusiasts to join the Circle and unite with a community of like-minded individuals.
